Exploring the Economic Development, Placemaking, and Real Estate Impacts of Breweries in Neighborhood Business Districts
In the past, breweries functioned at a neighborhood-level out of necessity—transportation and refrigeration constraints limited distribution distance. They were gathering places and meeting spaces on a micro-scale, and were a reflection of the character of their surrounding community. The rise of prohibition, corporate brewers, and suburbanization made the neighborhood brewer obsolete.
Across the United States, local breweries are establishing in communities and once again becoming part of the social and urban fabric. They are having a tangible effect on real estate, economic development, and placemaking within their locales.
Join us at the Woodward Theater on March 3rd from 12:00-6:00 pm to explore how the craft beer craze is affecting urban spaces. Event cost is $25.
This event will coincide with the 25th anniversary of Cincinnati’s Bockfest.
“Bockfest is a Cincinnati bock beer festival celebrating historic Over-the-Rhine brewing heritage and the coming of spring.”
Find more information here: http://www.bockfest.com
The event will finish as the Bockfest Parade passes in front of the venue.
