Bi-Okoto Drum & Dance Theatre presents an African and Indian Cultural dance and music festival featuring interactive workshops and performances by national guest artists and companies including:
KanKouran West African Dance Company (Senegal) from Washington D.C.
Nrityarpana School of Performing Arts - (Traditional Classical Indian Dance)
Yakshahejje (Traditional Indian Folk Art) from Indianapolis, Indiana
Satarangi (Bollywood Indian Dance).
What's Old is Contemporary showcases the similarities of African and Indian cultural dance, music and folk stories that have evolved over the years from OLD traditional dances to CONTEMPORARY pop dances which invigorate and influence other styles of dance around the world.
During the day, workshops will be held teaching traditional African dance/drumming as well Indian Bollywood dance. During the evening, guests from around the region will have a chance to peruse the Cultural Marketplace to purchase authentic African and Indian merchandise followed by a performance by the world renowned KanKouran West African Dance Company from Washington DC. KanKouran will take the stage at 8pm in the Mayerson Theatre. Some of the best talent in the nation will be on display. This rare event is for all ages bridging generations and bringing different cultures together by celebrating each others traditions, difference and similarities through art.
Workshop: $10 children (12 & under), $20 adults (13 & up)
Performance: $20 presale, $25 at the door. Groups of 10 or more: $18 each.

1:00-2:30pm—Adult African Dance w/KanKouran
